Id like to welcome, on behalf of the members of this council and myself, to all people visiting the Segovia Council website. I’d like to thank you all for letting me introduce in your homes through the New Communication Technologies to wish you Merry Christmas on behalf of the members of this council and myself. I wish that all your dreams and your families’ come true, in these days, that the human being have celebrated since ancient times even before than our christian traditions arose. We shouldn’t forget that already in ancient Rome they celebrated the 25th of december as the winter soltisce was believed to bring the birth of sun, and it was venerated as a God for them. However, letting the religion aside, all of us are conscious that in this period we have moments for the nostalgia, emotion and for the memory lived moments. We are now about to finish the year, a year which have seen the impulse of a new Segovia, the new city that we are creating with many efforts between all of us. A city that intends to be a reference in Castilla y León and so we are demanding as part of a fair and solidarity society. Thus, the year ends and with happiness we can announce that we have achieved some goals thanks to the common effort and we will soon begin to set up the new goals that will guide us in the New Year 2006, which undoubtedly will suppose big challenges for our millennial city. I cannot forget the person going through difficult times, that’s why I’d like to take the chance to give you my warm regard to all people that because of health problems, they are in hospital or in bed during this Christmas. I wish you a quick and good recovery. We need to believe that this time full of good wishes and good intentions must have a reflect in our daily lives and bring to all of us the spirit of respect and tolerance. Today Segovia, thanks to all of you it’s a Star City. Let hope to continue that way. Let’s make a toast for that and to the light of that star arrives in 2006 to all your homes, filling them of true peace, love and happiness.
